random thoughts

Hello. I am here to just give some random thoughts to you all about how this whole marketing plan I'm working on is going.

I will admit that it is not an easy task to complete. I am a father of 2 kids with one on the way. I have a wonderful wife and we both are full time employees right now at Rehau here in Cullman. Also, we both are full time students at Wallace State as well. I never knew how much work goes into a marketing plan. I really hope that when its finished I can be happy with the result. My family is why I am doing this and one day I will look back and be able to be appreciative of all the hard work I have put into reaching my business degree and me and my family will be better off for this decision.

Thanks,

Josh Newton

Public Relations

Here we are again. This is a new week and as you know by now I like to ellaborate on a new topic. This week I will be discussing public relations. Having a public relations strategic plan is very valuable to small businesses like mine.

Public relations main purpose is to serve as the voice and public image of my company to the marketplace, media, and most of all to you the potential customer. It gives me exposure to tell my company's story and what I am trying to market. I feel as if avenues such as the Cullman Times and social networking I can put out a press release for you all to see and the community as a whole. I will also be working closely as I will be a member of the CCC to show how committed I am to this community in which I also call home.

Lastly, I will be getting my business some recognition by lining up some lectures and speeches through industry and community conferences coming up soon.

Thanks,

Josh Newton

E-Marketing

This week lets talk about e-marketing. E-marketing also known as internet or online marketing is advertising and marketing efforts that use the internet and email to effect and drive direct sales through electronic commerce and also can get sales leads from both sources.

E-marketing is the product of the meeting between modern communication technologies and the old marketing priciples that most all have always used traditionally.

In order to be successful in serving and reaching all potential customers emarketing nowadays is essential to every sector of business. Email and internet sales can help in any market and easier to reach a broad number of customers simultaniously.

See you soon with another installment.

market penetration

Hello once again. A lot of exciting things have been happening lately and have gotten me really excited about where things could be heading. With that said, and I know it was a bit of a teaser, I want to discuss market penetration and competitive advantage.

Market penetration is very important to me and my future as being your family restaurant for many years to come and being the first place you think of when taking your families out for a casual dining experience. The amount of sales that are driven off the service and excellent food your family receives will be the most important aspect to me and my staff as always.

Now lets talk competitive advantage for a minute. I know the big box stores are always promising you a great dining experience but you often leave feeling as if this is just their way of getting you in the door. And you would be correct!! I do not want to sound like these guys at all but I will promise you the best experience around. I have done my research and have found that even if that steak you ordered wasn't quite exactly the way you would have fixed it, if you have the best service from the first time you walked through the doors that steak would still taste the same you would have felt lime my staff went above and beyond to make you feel like the king instead of the pheasant like most places leave you feeling.

I hope you give me the chance to prove to you that my service and staff are top notch when compared to those other guys.

Thanks,
Josh Newton

entrepreneurial pricing

What is entrepreneurial pricing? When it comes to choosing a price there are a number of things to consider. The first one is the value of the product or service you are providing. After determining the value you need to determine what the market will bear. This usually is done by looking at your competitors pricing. This usually means when you look at your competitors pricing you are just setting the bar where ever your competitors prices are. But you do not want to be just like them and therefore you make your self different.

There is always a place for you to define your own catagor for your business and not just follow the pack

branding

This week lets talk branding and how I am going to get my brand across to you the consumer.

I know that especially in small business branding is a huge deal. When a small business brands itself you do not start with a national brand as most big businesses do. I have to find a way to separate myself from the big boys and one way to do it is by creating a brand that consumers will see and automatically associate with Newt's Bar & Grill. I feel as if my business name is easy to pronounce and clearly states what my business is and is not confusing.

It may not be flashy as say Hooters is but our commitment to customer service instead of customer viewing, we separate ourselves very easily.

Observation

Hello folks,

It's a new week and with it brings a new question to discuss with you all. The subject is observing people doing normal activities and without offering help and just observing how they do these acts then asking if they feel like they can do that act without any problems. Well I have an activity that we all do and I think there are more people than we realize that struggle with it. What am I referring too? The tying of our tennis shoes. I am 34 years old and I still catch myself messing up tying my shoes even though I have done this for years still find a way to mess up. Whether I try to tie my shoes too fast or they come untied it happens to us all. I would like to observe and see how many people it takes to tie their shoes and how many tries it takes to get it just right the way the person wants the shoes tied.

With that being said I'd like to hear what some of you would like to add to my thoughts or a different activity to observe. Hope to hear from some of you with some feedback.

Talk back soon.
Thanks,

Josh Newton

Marketing

As another week ends and a new one is set to start I find myself with another question I need to answer and this week I must think about marketing and where I should direct it.

When posing this question, Should I try to market to everyone? My immediate response is no and yes all at the same time. I answer no because with being in the food industry if you strive to have a family establishment all you need to hit as far as marketing is who has the money and the decisions of the family as to where they decide to take the family to eat. But on the other hand yes you need to market to all because if any person that doesn't like what you are selling it could ultimately not go in your favor. All in all as a whole marketing must hit all demographics on whether it is on the smallest level all potential consumers needs to be reached if you plan on maximizing profits and becoming a restaurant that everyone can not go without eating and experiencing with their families.

As I wrap up this weeks discussion I want to end with this thought. I will strive to make sure I touch each one of you through my marketing and make my place an experience you will want to come and try time and time again and tell all your friends and family about for many years to come.

Thanks,

Josh Newton

To all,

This week I have the task of thinking or products that my have been ahead of its time, kind of like the Apple iPad that was ahead of its time and had to be pushed back to be successful on its launch. When thinking about this I immediately thought about search engines that we all use on a daily basis. We all know Google and how it works and all of its goodness it provides, but I also remember a search engine that led to the creation of Google. Askjeeves.com was definitely ahead of its time. It actually included many of the techniques that later made their way into Google like semantic search and even ranking web pages by hyperlinks which we all know is Google's search sauce if you will. We loved it for about a year but the only problem was the technology wasn't that good in those days and therefore making it ahead of its time.

I would like to hear thoughts or feedback as to other products I didn't mention.

Thank you and have a great day.

Ideas

Good evening all. As I have had time to reflect after the week it has crossed my mind about ideas and how I keep track of these ideas when it comes to my business. During this process I have learned that I do not keep a good log when it concerns my ideas of how to improve my business. The more I think I do have good ideas about where I want to be and have a good grasp of how to do it but not always recording these ideas could be a major flaw in the long run. With that said I understand that keeping a log of ideas whether my own or not I need to implement a good resourceful way to do this. The ease of an app on my phone is definitely a good place for me to start as not only can I record ideas I could also record a voice message or I could always just take a quick snap shot and have for later reference. Now that I've shared this I hope that in the future I will make a better effort to keep my ideas or even yours if you share any so that I can serve the community and our customers most efficiently in the futre.

Thanks,
Josh Newton

Ok I'm back. Been away and missed a week but now that I'm back lets discuss conventional vs entrepreneurial marketing. We all know that marketing is basically used to zero in on the right customer for what we are trying to sell. With that said it is always good to go into the market and talk and listen to customers in hopes to improve what they say needs improving or changed. There are 5 forces in entrepreneurial marketing environment used to reach the consumer. Social, economic, technological, competitive, and regulatory forces. We live in a technological advanced society thus I feel is one of the main forces right now in the business world and consumer services. With the advances made in society you have to veer towards entreprenuerial marketing over conventional marketing based on some of the conventional methods.

Please leave feedback positive or negative. Thanks.
